SAA Marks 35th Anniversary with 200 Mattresses to Korle Bu
Accra, Ghana – December 1, 2025 – The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA), in celebration of its 35th anniversary and World AIDS Day, has donated 200 mattresses to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as part of its commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving patient care across Africa.
The donation represents a significant contribution to one of Ghana’s leading healthcare institutions and underscores SAA’s dedication to supporting frontline health services in the fight against HIV/AIDS and related health challenges.


A Legacy of Service and Leadership
Since its establishment in 1990, the Society for AIDS in Africa has been at the forefront of the continent’s response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As the organization marks 35 years of advocacy, research, and community engagement, this donation symbolizes SAA’s continued commitment to practical action that directly improves the lives of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Strengthening Collaboration as ICASA 2025 Hosts
As hosts of the 25th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA 2025), currently underway at the Accra International Conference Centre, SAA has also engaged in strategic discussions with the Ghana AIDS Commission to strengthen collaboration and advance innovative strategies for a more impactful HIV response across the continent.
The meeting with the Ghana AIDS Commission focused on:
- Enhancing domestic resource mobilization for HIV programs
- Strengthening community-led responses to HIV/AIDS
- Advancing health sovereignty and African ownership of HIV interventions
- Expanding access to prevention, testing, and treatment services
- Addressing social and structural barriers to HIV services
