CALL FOR PROPOSITION OF ICASA 2025 THEME & OBJECTIVES

BACKGROUND OF ICASA

The International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) is a major and only bilingual international AIDS conference which takes place in Africa. It is a biennial conference which alternates between Anglophone and Francophone African countries. ICASA has been organized for 35 years now to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis and Malaria, and the debilitating effects which these diseases have on our communities, where there is no stigma and discrimination against PLHIV and their families, and where social justice and equity to accessing treatment prevails. So far ICASA has been hosted in (15) fifteen countries with more than 100,000 direct participants. The last ICASA was held in Harare, Zimbabwe in 2023 with 8118 delegates in attendance, 78 abstracts were selected for oral presentation and 815 abstracts were selected for virtual poster exhibition out of a total of 2600 abstracts received. ICASA awarded 717 scholarships to attend the conference and provided 1571 scholarship recipients virtual access to the conference. ICASA 2025 is expected to convene more than 10,000 delegates from nearly 150 countries, including more than 200 journalists around the globe. The 23rd edition of ICASA will be held from 3rd to 8th December 2025.
