ICASA 2027 Evaluation visit to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
A delegation from ICASA, led by Hon. Dr. David Pagwesese Parirenyatwa (ICASA President), Dr. Aliu Sylla (ICASA Secretary General), and Mr. Luc Armand Bodea (ICASA Director), conducted an evaluation visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 27 to 30 October 2025.
We are delighted to confirm that the DRC has officially submitted its bid to host ICASA 2027 — exactly 35 years after it proudly hosted Africa’s first-ever ICASA in 1992.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to:
🔹 Her Excellency Mrs. Judith Suminwa Tuluka, Prime Minister of the DRC
🔹 Honorable Roger Kamba, Minister of Health
Their visionary leadership and dedication have been central to positioning the DRC as a formidable contender for ICASA 2027.
Beyond its leadership in health, the DRC offers unparalleled natural and cultural treasures — from the majestic Virunga National Park, home to the world’s last mountain gorillas, to the mighty Congo River, Africa’s second-longest river, alive with culture and history. Kinshasa’s dynamic music, art, and hospitality embody the energy and resilience of the Congolese people.
The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) celebrates this historic bid and commends the DRC’s continued dedication to Africa’s health and development agenda.
Together, we remain committed to strengthening Africa’s collective response to HIV/AIDS, TB, and emerging health challenges, as we move toward a healthier and more resilient continent. 🌍
