The Society for AIDS in Africa announces the launch of a groundbreaking new publication, the Journal for Society of AIDS in Africa (JSAA). We invite a visionary researcher, clinician, and public health expert to serve as the founding Editorial Board.

The JSAA aims to serve as a premier platform for HIV/AIDS research in Africa, addressing critical gaps in knowledge and fostering evidence-based solutions tailored to the continent’s unique challenges. By focusing on locally-driven research and promoting African scholarship, the JSAA will play a crucial role in shaping policies, interventions, and treatment strategies across the continent.

We are recruiting for a regionally balanced Editorial Board.

1. HIV Prevention Science
   Innovative strategies for reducing HIV transmission in diverse African contexts.

2. HIV Treatment Science
   Advancements in antiretroviral therapy and treatment protocols specific to African populations.

3. HIV and Co-morbidities
   Intersections of HIV with other prevalent health issues in Africa, including tuberculosis, malaria, and non-communicable diseases.

4. HIV and (Re)emerging Infections
   Exploring the interplay between HIV and emerging infectious diseases, including lessons from COVID-19.

5. HIV and Vulnerabilities
   Addressing social, economic, structural and behavioral factors that exacerbate HIV risk among vulnerable populations in Africa, including decolonization agenda.

1. Promote African-led Research
   Guide the development of a journal that prioritizes African perspectives and solutions in HIV/AIDS research.

2. Shape Continental Policy
   Influence evidence-based policymaking and program implementation across Africa through high-impact publications.

3. Advance Critical Knowledge
   Lead the charge in identifying and promoting cutting-edge research that addresses the most pressing HIV/AIDS challenges in Africa.

4. Foster Collaboration
   Build and strengthen networks among researchers, institutions, and policymakers across the continent and globally.

5. Mentor the Next Generation
   Create opportunities for early-career African researchers to publish their work and grow in the field.

6. Gain International Recognition
   Elevate your profile as a leader in African HIV/AIDS research and academic publishing.

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field (Public Health, Epidemiology, Virology, Infectious diseases)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in HIV/AIDS research or related fields
• A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• Previous editorial experience (preferred but not required)
• Extensive professional network in HIV/AIDS research
• Commitment to advancing HIV/AIDS research in Africa
• Fluency in English, with French as a second language (desirable)

1. A comprehensive CV highlighting relevant research, publications, and editorial experience
2. A letter of interest (max. 2 pages) detailing your vision for the journal and how you would contribute to its success.
3. A sample editorial (800-1000 words) on a critical issue in HIV/AIDS research in Africa
4. A proposed operational plan for the journal (max. 2 pages)
