The Society for AIDS in Africa announces the launch of a groundbreaking new publication, the Journal for Society of AIDS in Africa (JSAA). We invite a visionary researcher, clinician, and public health expert to serve as the founding Editorial Board.

ABOUT THE JOURNAL


The JSAA aims to serve as a premier platform for HIV/AIDS research in Africa, addressing critical gaps in knowledge and fostering evidence-based solutions tailored to the continent’s unique challenges. By focusing on locally-driven research and promoting African scholarship, the JSAA will play a crucial role in shaping policies, interventions, and treatment strategies across the continent.

EDITORIAL POSITION

We are recruiting for a regionally balanced Editorial Board.

KEY RESEARCH AREAS FOR THE JOURNAL


  1. HIV Prevention Science
    Innovative strategies for reducing HIV transmission in diverse African contexts.
  1. HIV Treatment Science
    Advancements in antiretroviral therapy and treatment protocols specific to African populations.
  1. HIV and Co-morbidities
    Intersections of HIV with other prevalent health issues in Africa, including tuberculosis, malaria, and non-communicable diseases.
  1. HIV and (Re)emerging Infections
    Exploring the interplay between HIV and emerging infectious diseases, including lessons from COVID-19.
  1. HIV and Vulnerabilities
    Addressing social, economic, structural and behavioral factors that exacerbate HIV risk among vulnerable populations in Africa, including decolonization agenda.

CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS


  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field (Public Health, Epidemiology, Virology, Infectious diseases)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HIV/AIDS research or related fields
  • A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Previous editorial experience (preferred but not required)
  • Extensive professional network in HIV/AIDS research
  • Commitment to advancing HIV/AIDS research in Africa
  • Fluency in English, with French as a second language (desirable)

APPLICATION PROCESS


Interested candidates should submit:

  1. A comprehensive CV highlighting relevant research, publications, and editorial experience
  2. A letter of interest (max. 2 pages) detailing your vision for the journal and how you would contribute to its success.
  3. A sample editorial (800-1000 words) on a critical issue in HIV/AIDS research in Africa
  4. A proposed operational plan for the journal (max. 2 pages)
