SAA organizes ICASA in collaboration with other regional, continental and international organizations, and other such bodies active in the area of HIV/AIDS.
Overall, we work as an organization to contribute to the prevention, control and management of AIDS throughout Africa.
Opening of SAA Secretariat
With the approval of the SAA executive committee, a secretariat has been opened at Abuja, Nigeria. This took place on Tuesday, 7th November 2006.
The secretariat is now fully active and looks forward to effective collaborative work with national governments, societal organizations, institutions and civil society towards the mitigation of HIV/AIDS in Africa.

COMMUNIQUE ON ICASA 2008; 8th to 11th DECEMBER, DAKAR
SENEGAL
The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) hereby announces the change in the venue and date of the 15th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA), which was originally scheduled to take place in
Libreville
,
Gabon
in December 2007.
The next ICASA is now scheduled to hold in
Dakar
,
Senegal
from 8-11 December 2008.
This decision was taken by the Executive Council of the SAA in conjunction with the International Steering Committee during the meeting held in
Libreville
,
Gabon
in January 2007 after it became clear that it would be impossible to hold the ICASA in
Gabon
owing to logistical problems that could not be overcome by December 2007.
It therefore became necessary to appoint a new chair for the 15th ICASA in the person of Professor Souleymane Mboup who has already put all machinery in place to ensure a highly successful ICASA in 2008.
We apologize for any inconvenience hereby caused to all stakeholders, and well wishers. We wish to thank the Gabonese government for the effort made to host ICASA 2007. We also thank the Senegalese Government for accepting to host the conference in 2008.

COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE: DAKAR (SENEGAL) ABRITERA LA 15eme CONFERENCE INTERNATIONAL SUR LE VIH/SIDA ET LES MALADIES SEXUELLEMENT TRANSMISSIBLES EN AFRIQUE (CISMA-ICASA) du 8 au 11 decembre 2008.
La Société Africaine Anti SIDA (SAA) annonce par le présent communiqué :
ICASA-SISMA 2007 ne se tiendra plus en décembre au Gabon comme prévu.
Dakar la capitale Sénégalaise abritera la 15eme ICASA-CISMA du 8 au 11 Decembre 2008.
Cette décision fut prise par la SAA et le CDI (Comité Directeur International) au cours de la réunion de cette dernière, tenue à Libreville au Gabon au mois de janvier 2007. La décision fut prise vu l’impossibilité du Gabon à résoudre des problèmes logistiques avant décembre 2007. Vu l’urgence qui s’impose, le professeur Souleymane Mboup du Sénégal est nommé Président de la 15eme ICASA-CISMA 2008. Déjà, le Professeur Souleymane Mboup travail sur le dynamisme à mettre en place pour assurer que la 15eme édition soit un succès sans précédent.
Nous présentons nos sincères excuses à tous les acteurs et sympathisants pour le préjudice causer par ce report.
Nous remercions le gouvernement Gabonais pour son effort et soutien dans l’organisation de ICASA-CISMA 2007.
Nous remercions aussi le gouvernement Sénégalais pour avoir bien voulu accepter d’abriter la 15eme édition ICASA-CISMA en 2008.
