The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) hereby announces the change in the venue and date of the 15th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA), which was originally scheduled to take place in Libreville , Gabon in December 2007. The next ICASA is now scheduled to hold in Dakar , Senegal from 8-11 December 2008.

La La Société Africaine Anti SIDA (SAA) annonce par le présent communiqué : ICASA-SISMA 2007 ne se tiendra plus en décembre au Gabon comme prévu. Dakar la capitale Sénégalaise abritera la 15eme ICASA-CISMA du 8 au 11 Decembre 2008.

STATEMENT ON THE GAMBIAN GOVERNMENT’S UNPROVEN CLAIM OF A CURE FOR AIDS.

Earlier this year, Gambian President Yahya Jammeh announced that he had found a cure for AIDS. He began treating HIV-positive patients with a herbal treatment at the Presidential Palace, with the support of the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare. The initial ten patients, who were responding very well to antiretrovirals (ARVs), were required to stop ARVs in order to receive the herbal treatment.
