Professor Femi Soyinka
SAA President
Professor Soyinka is a specialist dermatologist and venereologist with thirty years working experience in the academic field.
As a pioneer of HIV/AIDS activist work in Nigeria , Prof. Femi Soyinka developed along side other stakeholders the Ambassadors of Hope Mission in Nigeria Project in 1996 and in the early nineties he established the Network on Ethics/Human Rights, Law, HIV/AIDS-Prevention, Support and Care (NELA).
He has received various awards from various organizations on HIV/AIDS and STI
work and is a member of several national and international professional associations.
Prof. Femi Soyinka has published over 60 refereed publications and over 20 technical reports in Scientific Journals in various fields.
He was the President of the 14th edition of the International Conference on AIDS
and STIs in Africa, which held in Nigeria and is currently the President of the Society. |

Professor Robert Bodilwinde Soudre
Vice President
Professor Robert Bodilwinde Soudre is from Burkina Faso . He is a Medical Doctor by profession, specialist in Anatomy and pathology, he has been a university lecturer for many years and is the author of more than sixty books and publications in pathology, cancer and AIDS related topics.
Prof Soudre is a Specialist Doctor in the National Hospital Center Laboratory, Ouagadougou , and he is a member of over ten international scientific bodies including the ISC (International Scientific Committee, the ICASA steering committee).
Professor Robert Soudre is the Vice President of the Society for AIDS in Africa and he was the president of the 12th ICASA, held in Ouagadougou , Burkina Faso in 2001.

Dr Dundu Malaki Owili
SAA Executive Secretary
Dr Owili, a chief consultant dermatologist from Kenya holds a degree in Dermatology from Friendship University , Moscow . He has held many prestigious positions both in the African and international community and has particularly been of service to his country in the area of HIV/AIDS and other health issues.
He is a recipient of national and international awards and honors, including the Kenyan Head of State’s Commendation (HSC) which he received on the 12th of December, 2005 and he also has to his credit, several publications.
Dr Owili was the president of the 13th ICASA which held in Kenya and he is currently serving as the Executive Secretary of the Society for AIDS in Africa .

Professor Lazare Kaptue
Treasurer
Professeur Lazare Kaptue, is a Medical Doctor from Cameroon . A Phd holder in Immunology, Haematology and blood related sickness. He is the author of more than a hundred books in haematology, Immunology, Pathology and virology; he discoved the complete sequence of DNA in Immunodeficiency Simiene from the Drill Monkey in Cameroon .
Professeur Kaptue belongs to more than ten International Scientifics bodies. He is the Chairman of the local government of Dembeng (Bandjoun), and the recipient of awards and honours such as; Officier des Palmes Academiques Francaise.
Professeur Kaptue was the president of the 7th ICASA which took place in Yaoundé , Cameroon in 1992, and is presently the Executive Treasurer of the society.

Professor Mboup Souleymane
Professor Souleymane, is a Professor of Bacteriology- Virology at the Faculte Mixte de Medecine et Pharmacie, University Hospital of Dakar and is a member of various scientific societies
In Senegal , his home country he has served in various capacities working in the area of HIV/AIDS. He has risen through various military positions in the Senegalese Armed Forces and is presently a pharmacist colonel.
Professor Mboup has authored and co-authored many books and publications. He has a total of 17 books and 205 peer-reviewed publications to his name and he is currently working on various research projects with support from various international bodies.
Prof. Souleymane was the President of the 6th International Conference on AIDS and STIs held in Senegal in 1991.

Professor Fathia A- Mahmoud
Dr Mahmoud is a renowned scientist who holds a post-Doctoral fellowship in Gynecological Reproductive Endocrinology from the prestigious National Institute of Health (NIH), USA .
She is the founder and first president of the Society for Women Against AIDS (SWAA), in Sudan . She was the first African female to write about the impact of HIV/AIDS in Africa , which was published in the Washington Post of August 1987.
She worked alongside other researchers as a HIV/AIDS Research Associate in a project on PMTCT at Uniform University , Waltreed and Navy Hospital USA .
Dr Mahmoud has been recently appointed as ICASA 2007 Co- president, making her the first African woman to ever hold this position.

| Dr. Samuel Ikwaras Okware
Dr. Samuel Ikwaras Okware is a medical doctor by profession.
He is a Ugandan and has served in several senior positions in the Ugandan Ministry of Health, coordinating important public health programs for over 25 years. He has been the overall coordinator of the epidemic preparedness and response in his country.
In 1987 he developed the first HIV/AIDS control program in Africa . He is credited for reducing HIV Prevalence in Uganda from 30% to about 6% over a 10-year period.
Dr Okware has received several national and international professional achievement awards, is a member of many national and international organizations and has published 33 articles in peer reviewed international journals on critical topics. He was the president of the 9th ICASA which held in Kampala , Uganda in 1995. |
